Centerpoint's clinical services include individual, group and family therapy, as well as psychopharmacology when indicated. The overall clinical approach emphasizes the development and maximization of more mature, adaptive, controlled and safe behavior. The program attempts to understand individual problems from a biopsychosocial model, and emphasizes an active and ongoing assessment process that guides and supports treatment interventions.

Each resident is assigned both an Individual and Family Therapist who remain involved with the resident until discharge. In addition, residents and family members are encouraged to actively participate in the development and implementation of a resident's treatment plan through ongoing participation in Treatment Planning Meetings and Quarterly Reviews. Group Therapy occurs at least five times per week and is organized around supporting more mature defenses and adaptive coping skills in a peer oriented setting. This approach includes cognitive behavioral strategies which provide corrective emotional experiences for each resident.

Early stages of treatment are more likely to focus on attaining behavioral control to insure safety, while later states focus on increasingly more autonomous functioning and developing community integration skills.
